Jerome "Joe" P. Bonnett, Jr.
Joe Bonnett, is a licensed Stockbroker and Investment Advisor with over a decade of experience. Joe specializes in retirement, estate and investment planning.
Joe attended the University of Nebraska and holds a degree in Finance and Banking. Joe and his wife, Susan (Engdahl) have a son, Jake and a daughter, Claire. Both Joe and Susan are Nebraska natives and are involved with several community and charitable organizations, including but not limited to: Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Alpha Tau Omega, and the Humane Society.
Joe operates independently, which means his allegiance is to his clients, rather than to an insurance or brokerage company. Joe believes all client relationships must be mutually beneficial for both he and the client. Win-win relationships are crucial for long-term success, therefore, Joe strives to understand his client’s needs by putting himself in their shoes.
Licensing
Securities License: Under federal law, virtually every securities firm doing business with the U.S. public is a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (“NASD”.)
The NASD is a private, not-for-profit organization that oversees all the aspects of the brokerage community under it’s jurisdiction. The NASD also administers exams that brokers are required to pass
in order to conduct securities business. After a broker is licensed, annual continuing education courses are required to keep the securities license active and ensure the public is dealing with a knowledgeable and capable broker.
Continuing education courses cover many aspects of the business from ethics to estate planning and income taxation. For more information about NASD please refer to the website: www.nasd.org
Insurance License: Under state law, one must pass an exam and complete bi-annual continuing education to remain licensed. For more information regarding insurance regulation you want to refer to The National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) which assists state insurance regulators, individually and collectively, in serving the public interest and achieving the following fundamental insurance regulatory goals in a responsive, efficient
and cost effective manner, consistent with the wishes of its members to: protect the public interest; promote competitive markets; facilitate the fair and equitable treatment of insurance consumers; promote the reliability, solvency and financial
solidity of insurance institutions; and support and improve state regulation of insurance. The NAIC website is www.naic.org

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s (“SEC”) primary mission is to protect investors and maintain the integrity of the securities markets. The laws and rules that govern the securities industry in the United States derive from a simple and straightforward concept: all investors, whether large institutions or private individuals, should have access to certain basic facts about an investment prior to buying it. To achieve this, the SEC requires public companies to disclose meaningful financial and other information to the public, which provides a common pool of knowledge for all investors to use to judge for themselves, if a company's securities are a good investment. Only through the steady flow of timely, comprehensive and accurate information can people make sound investment decisions. For more information about SEC please refer to the website: www.sec.gov/
Securities Investor Protection Corporation (“SIPC”) is your first line of defense in the event of a brokerage firm failure. No fewer than 99% of eligible investors get their investments back from SIPC. From its creation by Congress in 1970 through December 2001, SIPC advanced $513 million in order to make possible the recovery of $13.9 billion in assets for an estimated 622,000 investors. SIPC reserve funds are used to supplement the distribution, up to a ceiling of $500,000 per customer, including a maximum of $100,000 for cash claims. Additional funds may be available to satisfy the remainder of customer claims after the cost of liquidating the brokerage firm is taken into account. For more information about SIPC please refer to the website: www.sipc.org
Securities America Inc., (“SAI”) (a Broker/Dealer, Member of the NASD & SIPC) conducts annual compliance audits of Bonnett Financial Services to help ensure client files and records are complete and that Bonnett Financial Services is conducting business according to NASD and SEC rules and regulations. (“SAA”) is an affiliate of SAI and an U.S. SEC Registered Investment Advisor, and provides asset allocation and asset management support.
